our school history
There has been a school in Glassford since the early 1700's. The church was responsible for the education of the parish children until 1872, when the state took over control of the schools.
The present school was opened in the 1920's and is situated in Alston Street on the outskirts of the village.
It is traditional in design and from the playground there can be seen beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
The school has 5 rooms, 3 of which are currently used as classrooms. One room houses our ICT suite & resource room, and the fifth is a general purpose/infant playroom.

our school today
We take pride in the commitment of all the staff in the school. All teaching staff have a sound knowledge and understanding of each child's needs and are ably supported by our Support Staff. We have a very supportive School Board and PTA whose involvement benefits the school greatly.
The school is bright with attractive displays of pupil work to be seen by all.
Our school role is currently 66 and the staffing this session is 3.5. We have children from the village, the outlying areas and from Stonehouse and Strathaven (placing requests).
In Glassford we constantly aim to provide the children with a rich stimulating curriculum within a caring, supportive environment.
We are very grateful to some of our parents who give up their time and become parent helpers on a regular basis and others who are able to come in on a one-off basis.
Our Active Pupil Council take forward and discuss their fellow pupils' ideas and comments. Our pupils also participate in after school activities such as badminton, netball and football.
